In the build up to the Royal Wedding that fell this weekend, royal memorabilia manifested itself in all sorts of form. From toilet paper to Royal Mint coins, the usual collectables were seen as in previous years. The typical Royal Wedding mug, a firm favourite for most, certainly was popular again, but there was one mug in particular which caught our eye.

Now sold out due to popular demand, this “beautiful cup to commemorate the most beautiful occasion” created by Guandong Enterprises certainly caught the nation’s attention. It mistakenly features an image of Kate Middleton, now Duchess of Cambridge, with Prince Harry, the younger brother of Prince William who is the actual groom. Whether this mistake is intentional or just an amusing mishap has been debated quite a lot, but the mug itself is good fun and certainly in keeping with the British sense of humour.
There must have been many people toasting the Royal couple on Friday for the national holiday with their more unusual mugs, and many have been bought as gifts. Perhaps this will make such quirky wedding mugs more popular as a choice of wedding gifts for more light-hearted guests?
